History at The Batt & St Mary's
Exploration: Children will encounter history through a wide range of evidence including primary artefacts, documents, photographs, visits and multi media sources.
Cooperation: Children will work in pairs, small groups and classes to explore historical sources and their own thinking and ideas.
Communication: Children will communicate their developing historical knowledge in a variety of ways including class discussions, presentations, writing, drama and technology, making effective use of subject specific vocabulary.
Innovation: Children will use their developing historical knowledge to explore more complex ideas such as weighing evidence and discussing bias and consider impact of historical events on the present.
At The Batt and St Mary's we teach history and geography in different terms - with each class covering three history units and three geography units each year.
