This half-term we have partnered up with the charity Canine Concern to introduce a 'reading dog' scheme. We will be joined on alternate weeks by two wonderful dogs, Daisy and Bobbi.
Daisy and her oener Gemma, and Bobbi and her owner Linda, accompanied by one of our Teaching Assistants, will hear children read on an individual basis. Once the children have read they will be able to pet and chat to the dog.
The scheme, which has been running for several years, has been very successful in promoting confidence in reading aloud. The families of those children selected by staff to read to either of the dogs will be asked for their permission for them to do so, while the rest of the school will get to meet Daisy and Bobbi during one of our assemblies.
