Sports Day

The children of St. Mary’s showed their athletic prowess on 17 July when they took part in our annual Sports Day on Church Green.

The morning began with a carousel of activities that challenged the children’s balancing, coordination and teamwork skills. There were then a series of individual races where our athletes raced against each other. Finally, we held a mums, dads and toddlers race which were all very competitive!

The final results were:

1st Sporty Strawberries 53 points

2nd Keep Fit Kiwis 50 points

3rd Muscly Mangoes 48 points

4th Bouncy Blueberries 42 points

St Mary's Limited Opening

St Mary's CE Infant School has now partially reopened inline with government guidance.  Due to the unique nature of our school, we are open only to Reception children, vulnerable children and those of critical key workers. Our dedicated staff team are continuing to provide online learning opportunities as well as teach full time.

We are an ‘Excellent’ Church School!

On 11 March 202, St Mary’s school received a formal inspection under the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).  I am delighted to announce that that St Mary’s has been awarded the highest possible grade of ‘Excellent’ with an additional judgement of ‘Excellent’ for Collective Worship.

Mobile Planetarium Visit

Year 1 have been studying space as part of their topic this term, ‘Moon Zoom’. And surely, (except for a St. Mary’s rocket trip!) there could be no better way of experiencing the galaxy than by journeying into the sky and seeing the stars close up which we did with a visit to a mobile planetarium.
